I loved seeing these cheery snowy berries pop into life on my paper! This southern girl loves any and every snow I see! I used liquid frisket to mask out the snow, which adds a little extra suspense to the painting process since the snow is not “painted.” Instead the white paper is protected by the frisket till the painting is complete and then the frisket is removed revealing sparkling snow crystals!

About the Winter Collection
Color is draining from the world in many respects during this season. But this time has a quiet beauty that lets the bright drops of red and the evergreens stand out. Some days of motherhood I find my spirit weak…along with my energy (though this year I’ve been grateful for so much more energy than the last three)! When it feels like winter, the bright spots are brighter still. How perfect it is that we celebrate Jesus’ earthly birth as Savior during the backdrop of winter. How bright a gift He is for our needy world.
I painted some of the vibrant blooms, berries and evergreens that remind us that there is still life among the dead and sleeping. I hope they will cheer your heart.
