"Passion Flower" Watercolor Reproduction

from $18.00

I spent a lot of time wandering around the pretty places in our neighborhood when I was in high school, and I happened upon this fascinating flower near the pond. It seems to belong to the opulent Baroque age with all its ornamentation. The Passion flower was named such by missionaries around that same time to represent the Passion of Christ. The ten petals and sepals represent ten of Christ's disciples, excepting Judas who betrayed him and Peter who denied him. The corona filaments represent the crown of thorns placed on Jesus head. The five stamen represent the five wounds he suffered and the three stigma the nails that nailed him to the cross.

Seasons Collection : Spring

Giclee Reproduction print on archival watercolor paper. Unframed.

Keep in mind that prints are ordered on demand. Please be patient as they are printed at a local giclee printshop and take about a week to come to me. I then package them up to send to you.

About the Spring Collection

Nature, and more specifically plants, have always been a part of my art. As I contemplated what collection I should paint in 2019, plants made the most sense.

Specifically, I love observing the changes in each season. Many of us long for that shift from the rest and reflection of winter to the energy and hope of spring and the contentment and harvest of summer. Fall and winter can be difficult days, but they are also filled with beauty and not without purpose. I see reflections of our life patterns in nature’s seasons. I love to discover the Creator cultivating His garden and image-bearers. My goal is to share these discoveries of beauty with you.

They are gifts for enjoyment and healing, purpose and hope. I live with the hope that “He has made all things beautiful in [their] time.” (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

What does Spring make you think? “Yay! We made it!” Or perhaps, “Time to get out my allergy mask!” 😷 Color is bursting through the new green at every turn—and I love it!

To me, Spring is a time of light, hope, energy and fulfillment! It is a time when we realize that He was at work all along, despite the silence and waiting.

My Spring series is a collection of some of my favorite plants during this time of year. Take a look here on my website—maybe they are your favorites too!
